OIL DEALERS URGE CONSUMERS TO CLEAR A PATH TO OIL FILL PIPES
Drivers delivering heating oil following significant snowfall can use your help!
February 28, 2005 (BRAINTREE, MA) -
Another snowstorm is on its way to our region, leaving New Englanders with a familiar challenge: blocked access to oil fill pipes at homes and businesses. One way to help prevent this serious side effect of heavy snowfall is to clear a path to your oil fill pipe. While clearing driveways, walkways and cars have become part of our everyday routine, it is also necessary to create pathways to ensure proper, timely delivery of vital fuel oil following major winter storms. This act also makes the life of your fuel oil driver a whole lot easier!
“Many drivers are faced with the exhausting task of trudging through several-foot-high snowdrifts in order to reach an oil fill that is often buried under more snow,” South Shore Fuel President Robert R. Fawcett said. “A clear path for the oil driver is very appreciated.”
Homeowners should observe the following tips to guarantee prompt oil delivery:
- Following a substantial snowstorm, shovel a path that is at least 12” wide, leading from your driveway to your home's oil fill.
- Inspect your oil fill to make sure that it is not covered in ice or snow.
- Call your heating service provider if the fuel oil in your tank drops below 1/8.
“During the heating season, every minute counts,” Fawcett added. “Now more than ever, we are working around the clock to provide comfort and peace of mind to each customer.”
